This week I wrote an ending to my piece. It isn't perfect but it's something. I am planning on having Mr. Jimeson listen to it and give me some advice. since he is an band teacher he will know a lot about music theory. He also has composed a few songs for marching band. I am done with the first draft of the song now and hope to be able to finish revisions soon so I can get some people together to play it.

This week I was having a really hard time figuring out where I want my song to go. i think that I just need to write an ending and then worry about fixing the rest of it. One thing about musicians is that they look for everything that is wrong about the music they play or write so they can fix it. I think that i'm getting too caught up in that and I just need to keep writing. I think i'm going to ask Mr.Jimeson to listen to my composition and give some advice to speed along the process.
When writing music there needs to be some spaces or rests in between phrases. This week I focused on finding the right spot to put the spaces. If music is just straight notes its hard to listen to. This is why I need to do this. space is one of the most vital parts of a song if there is no space then there is no feeling in the piece.
This week I got a part of my rough draft completed on my composition. At first a lot of the piece sounded kind of weird. I found the problem however in the minor key. The piece I am writing is in the key of E flat major. When you want to make a piece sound sad or angry you put accidentals in the text in order to transpose the music into the parallel or relative minor key. In this instance I used the relative minor, E flat major's relative minor key is D sharp minor. ![]() This process of evaluating my composition has been and will be a lengthy difficult process, but from what I have written so far I am hopeful that I can piece together a decent song. |
