What is Music Composition?
Music composition is writing a piece of music. The idea of writing music is similar to writing a story, a piece of music includes many different styles switching between major and minor in order to make the audience feel emotion. A piece of music is often telling a story from the composers life or something they feel strongly about.
Here are some definitions of music terms:
Dynamics- the volume level at which the piece is played and how it changes throughout the piece
Articulations- how the note is played (ex. short, long, accented, smooth, connected)
Tempo- the speed at which the piece is played usually written in bpm (beats per minute)
Key signature- shows which notes are sharp or flat
Time signature- shows how many beats are in one measure and which type of note gets the beat
Major- key signature that sounds happy and doesn't have any dissonance in the scale
Minor- key signature that sounds angry or sad and the scale includes some dissonance
Rhythm- the length and order in which the notes are played
Sharp- one half step above the natural note (black keys on the piano)
Flat- one half step below the natural note (black keys on the piano)
